“What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.”
– Morpheus in Matrix
I have been delaying to write about this subject for a while but today I got this sudden boost of creative energy in this direction and I couldn’t delay it any longer. So here it is.
The Spiritual Revolution in the West
It all started six centuries ago in Europe when Luther and Gutenberg joined forces.
Luther was spreading this new religious philosophy called Protestantism that maintained the proposition that every person can have direct access to the Divine.
This sent shockwaves throughout the Vatican enterprise called The Catholic Church, threatening their monopoly on the Divine, and the jobs of the priests, monks and missionaries (no more middleman). There was panic in the ranks.
Moreover, Gutenberg started to print the Bible in quantity and low price. This allowed people to read the sacred book and make their own interpretations (before only the priests had access to the book).
What we see here is the joining of forces between a new spiritual libertarian ideology (Protestantism) and a new technology (printing press). Through the printing press was possible to rapidly spread these new spiritual libertarian ideals.
To me this revolution has a taste of Anarchism. By the way, Anarchism is not chaos. The correct definition of Anarchy is:
“Anarchy is the condition of a society, entity, group of people, or a single person that rejects hierarchy.”
In this case the hierarchy was The Catholic Church not the Divinity in itself. This definition is good but falls short for an actual and functional proposition of Spiritual Anarchy. Something is missing.
If you go and search for Agorism you will find one of the missing links to this new concept of Spirituality.
“Agorism is a libertarian social philosophy that advocates creating a society in which all relations between people are voluntary exchanges by means of counter-economics, thus engaging with aspects of peaceful revolution.”
– Samuel Edward Konkin III. from Wikipedia
This last definition sounds much more close to the Spirituality I want to practice and the Society I want to live in. This definition is not perfect but it is a work in progress towards freedom, respect and peace. I am sure that will evolve in something even more precise and useful.
A Working Definition of Spiritual Agorism
By merging together agonism and spirituality it is possible to come up with a set of guiding principles that would help to understand the scope of it and direct its implementation.
Let’s see what are those principles.
Spiritual Agoristic Principles to Live By
1 – Do No Harm and Voluntary Exchanges – This is a key principle for a new emerging society and the restoration spirituality, personal freedom and respect.
Having this principle taught and practiced, means that everybody could feel safe and protected. Also that you would not be forced to engage in any kind of exchanges that would be against the sovereignty of your own being, like going to wars, or coercively robbed through taxes.
2 – Networkal – I created this word to express a new type of structure for human institutions and organizations.
Networkal is a flat structure for institutions and organization where everybody in it is equal, although different in terms of skills/knowledge, and contributing to a common goal.
The leadership role in networkal institutions and organizations is always temporary, moving from one member to another, and will depend on the common goal to be reached at a certain time.
Networkal will put an end to Hierarchical institutions and organizations, and its dependency on holding on to power, and the worst that derives from it: corruption and slave mentality.
Networkal expresses the equalitarian term that none is above or below you, but we are part of different networks.
3 – Decentralized – People, things, ideas, and information don’t need to be in one place. They can be spread in space and time.
The decentralized concept also holds the end of the concentration of personal power, information and knowledge in just one place.
A decentralized option is the best protection against theft, hacking, and spying, as things are no longer in one place.
4 – Open Source – Means that you can “open the hood” and check for yourself what is inside, either it will be laws, drugs, software, food, medicine, institutions or organizations.
Moreover, you can help to perfect and evolve what you use, and that is valid for all the above.
This is the end of copyrights, proprietary ownership, dependency on things, and holding on to it. Open source states that all that is created and invented is part of the Human legacy to All.
5 – Right To Privacy – You have the right to your privacy and all information about you can only be shared with your permission. At the same time you can and should protect critical aspects of your life recurring to encryption.
The right to privacy would render illegal and immoral all the intelligence services that serve governments and shady organizations, putting an end to mass manipulation and lies.
How To Use
You can apply these five principles to your personal and spiritual life, to access how you treat others and how they treat you, the job you have, the goods that you are buying, etc. Try it and take your own conclusions.
I have tried this and works fine for me. It gave me lots of insights in the way I was conduction my life, what I should maintain and what I should change, things that I should buy or not, all this in just five principles. Impressive!
The question now is how to make this work on a large scale. Is it possible? I think so. We reach a new point in our human history where the confluence that I was talking about above happened again, the confluence between a new spiritual libertarian ideology and a new emerging technology. Let’s see what they are:
- Spiritual Agorism – A new spiritual libertarian ideology
- Internet and the Blockchain – A new technology
In relation to Spiritual Agorism we have the 5 principles mentioned above. The other part needed to implement is the internet and the blockchain.
The invention of the Internet and the Blockchain makes it possible to materialize the ideas of spiritual agonism in reality.
In order to understand this we need to take a look to what is the blockchain.
What Is the Blockchain
The blockchain is a decentralized and open source ledger technology that started with the advent of cryptocurrencies but that can be used and adapted to monitor and control, most if not all levels of bureaucracy in a society without human intervention.

Hurdles on the Way
Of course this is a direct threat to the actual social, political and religious paradigms (like it was a threat six centuries ago to the powers that were).
I have real example of these threats. The other day I received an invitation from a friend to join a webinar about a cryptocurrency that I didn’t know about.
I was curious about this new cryptocurrency and did a google search and what I found took all the interest from using it.
I compared the features of this new cryptocurrency to the five principles of Spiritual Agorism and came to the following conclusions:
- Not Decentralized – all the information was in servers owned a company
- Not Open Source – all the technology was proprietary and you couldn’t check how it works
- Not Networkal – you couldn’t join freely you had to pay your access into the network and it was hierarchical
- Not Private – the information you would put in that network could be access by the owners of the network
All this put me off. This company was taking control of a technology that was created to free people and using it to promote an old paradigm of enslavement.
Using the five principles of Spiritual Agorism is possible to debunk those “shiny” illusions coming from people with no scruples, pursuing to make more money at the expenses of enslaving others (although disguised as very spiritual).
Towards Spiritual Agorism
Going forward with this is a personal and collective endeavor from which we can all profit, develop and share.
I have a suggestion. Would you open to try to apply these principles for a day in your life? When you deal with others, when you go shopping, when you think about your personal and spiritual beliefs. You can surprise yourself how these five principles go deep and have a huge potential for change.
I would love to hear from you. Did this work, not, what generated in your life? Please share your ideas and conclusions below.
